New Valley West edition of Health Sense
January 13, 2012

A Sandwich woman is inspiring others about the importance of not smoking. Hospitalists are providing unique inpatient care. These and other stories about what’s going on at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich can be found in a new version of KishHealth System’s bi-annual HealthSense magazine.

Watch for this Valley West-specific publication in your mail in mid-January. You might recognize the people on the cover: Sandwich elementary school principal, Dr. Shirley DeCorte, and Sandwich resident, Earl Shaffer. Find out about their project and why they’re on the cover.

Articles also include a glimpse into the depth of healthcare services available to Valley West patients throughout the KishHealth System. For example, did you know The Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb is the only facility in the area using leading edge PET/CT technology that allows reduction of radiation dosage without sacrificing image quality? In fact, the only other northern Illinois hospital with this technology is Rush University Hospital in Chicago. Find out more about this and other hospital and health system services available to the community, like community wellness programming and heart health services.
