New Ultrasound Machines in Emergency Departments at VWCH

Continuing the pursuit of excellence, Valley West Community Hospital and Kishwaukee Community Hospital Emergency Departments are proud to announce the addition of our new ultrasound machines.

The Kishwaukee Health Foundation purchased the machines with donations made to the 2006 Valley West Heart of the Hospital Annual Giving Campaign and the 2006 Friends for Life KCH 100 Annual Giving Campaign.  

The new machines will be used as screening tools for the doctors to determine if immediate intervention and testing needs to be done. It does not replace more advanced diagnostic ultrasounds, but allows for immediate intervention decisions, says Cindy Graves, RN, BS, CEN, KishHealth System Emergency Services Director.

Dr. James Fedinec, board certified in emergency medicine, will conduct training for medical staff on use of the new ultrasound machines. Dr. Fedinec joined the Valley West Community Hospital medical staff in 2007. He previously acted as Emergency Ultrasound Director and Medical Director of the PGA Championship at Medinah in 2006.

Donations to Friends for Life and Heart of the Hospital have allowed both Kishwaukee Community Hospital and Valley West Community Hospital to keep pace with medical advances. Many projects and pieces of equipment have been funded by Friends for Life and Heart of the Hospital over the last 27 years. These funds have been donated by community members who share our commitment for maintaining our reputation as progressive community hospitals.
